My question is whether we really need another one of those. He did a lot of growing up organically in the first 300 issues of "Fantastic Four" and since then it seems like it has been rehashed a lot. Heck, do we need it ever again after Hickman's death and return of Johnny?

I would say read the story and then decide. Worrying about how bad a story might be, and then reacting as though what you’ve imagined is what is actually going to be done is a particular failing of fandom. Any story can be done well or done poorly—you won’t know which one this is until you pick it up and experience it yourself.
