#comics next on the mounting list.
I’d hang them right now but it’s midnight and I don’t want to be THAT guy.
Warren Ellis slips in quite a few comic book references in to the excellent Planetary
That is a large understatement.
The bad guys were the Fantastic Four from Darkseid.
And the issue that was about the 80’s British comics. An issue based on Nick Fury. A book based on B-movies, one on Godzilla. The only thing missing? Zombies, because Fuck Zombies.
The planetary drinking game is drinking when there ISN’T a reference to a pre-existing media.
Jakita Wagner by Andy MacDonald
Elijah Snow by John Cassaday
“HHHHEEEEEHHHGGGGHHHHHH!!!” - Planetary. Artist John Cassaday.
i love the kineticity. that’s not a word. kinetic-ness. how kinetic it is. y’know
I feel like that if there was any sort of justice in the world, some awesome action director would see these 2 pages and decide to make a movie about a ghost cop, and it would be awesome.
It would have a pottery scene while “unchained memory” played, except our ghost cop would be be killing dudes.. with clay and pottery. I haven’t quite figured out how that would work, but fuck.. it would be better than ‘Ghost’.
This is the time machine from Planetary, it’s seen in both Planetary - JLA: Terra Obscura and in Planetary #27. Very interesting that the same design is used in both places, implying that the Terra Obscura universe isn’t too far away from the Wildstorm U, and with the merging of Wildstorm and DC could represent a Dark version of the nDCU.
This is one of my favorite takes on Wonder Woman. Psionic swords, action suit that is practical, but still Greek and seems both futuristic and classical at the same time.
